What Natriumklorid is and what it is used for
Natriumklorid Abcur is used to treat sodium deficiency due to that you have e.g. short bowel (ostomy) or have a disease called SIADH (Syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion). The active substance in Natriumklorid Abcur is sodium chloride, a substance important for the fluid balance in the body.
What you need to know before you use Natriumklorid Abcur
Do not use Natriumklorid Abcur:
- if you are allergic to sodium chloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
- if you have severe renal impairment
- if you have symptoms of heart failure despite treatment
- if you have fluid retention
- if you have severe hepatic impairment (cirrhosis)
- if you have preeclampsia
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse before using Natriumklorid Abcur

if you have reduced kidney/liver function

if you have high blood pressure

if you use medicines containing cortison
Other medicines and Natriumklorid Abcur
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are using, have recently used or might use any other medicines. Natriumklorid Abcur may affect or be affected if you use any of the the following:
- medicines for lowering the blood pressure
- medicines containing litium
Pregnancy breast-feeding and fertility
No known effects at recommended doses.
Driving and using machines
No effects on the abilityto drive oruse machineshave been demonstrated.
How to use Natriumklorid Abcur
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor, pharmacist or nurse have told you. Check with your doctor, pharmacist or nurse if you are not sure.
Adults: individual dosage, up to 20 tablets per day divided in several dosage occasions.
The tablets should be swollowed whole.
If you use more Natriumklorid than you should
If you have taken more of this medicine than directed, or if a child accidentally has taken this medicine, please contact your doctor or emergency unit for judgement of the risk and advice.
If you have taken too much Natriumklorid Abcur you may suffer from the following: thirst, reduced salivation, swollen tongue, heart rush, blood pressure fall, accumulation of fluid in the brain or body, headache, restlessness, dizziness, cramps in the stomach, vomiting, diarrhoea. Coma and respiratory arrest can occur in severe cases.
If you forget to use Natriumklorid Abucr
Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten tablet.
If you stop using Natriumklorid Abcur
If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor, pharmacist or nurse.
4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
The following side effects have been reported (occurs in unknown number of users):
Nausea, vomiting.

You can also report side effects directly via the national reporting system listed in Appendix V*. By reporting side effects you can help provide more information on the safety of this medicine.
5. How to store Natriumklorid Abcur
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the label after Exp. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicines you no longer use. These measures will help protect the environment.

The active substance is sodium chloride.

The other ingredients are talc, microcrystalline cellulose, hypromellose, macrogol.
